Dash is a recipe app made by Adelphian Labs LLC (“we”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.
Everything you keep in Dash is stored on your device: recipes and their photos, categories, ratings, notes, meal plans, grocery lists, pantry items, kitchen timers and settings. We don’t operate servers that store this information. It’s included in your device’s backups (such as iCloud Backup) according to your Apple settings. Deleting Dash deletes it. You can export all of your recipes from Settings at any time.
Scan a Recipe reads photos and screenshots on your device, using Apple’s text recognition and, where available, Apple Intelligence. Your photos aren’t uploaded. On devices where it’s available, some Apple Intelligence requests may run on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, which Apple designed so that your data is used only for your request and isn’t stored or made accessible to Apple. Dash tells you on the review screen when a recipe was read this way. Apple’s handling of this data is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Dash AI adds pantry scanning from photos, recipe suggestions and meal planning. These features use an AI model from OpenAI (Luna), reached through OpenRouter, an AI service provider. Before you use Dash AI the first time, Dash explains what’s shared and asks for your agreement. You can withdraw it in Settings.
Only when you use a Dash AI feature, Dash sends what that feature needs:
Nothing is sent in the background, and your name, email address and location are never sent.
Requests go to a server we run on Cloudflare. It checks that your Dash AI subscription is active, then passes the request to OpenRouter, which passes it to OpenAI. Requests carry an anonymous identifier derived from your subscription, not your name or Apple Account.
Dash AI is sold through Apple. We never see your payment details. Apple gives the app a signed record of your subscription, which our server checks to confirm it’s active. Apple’s handling of purchases is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Dash’s Siri and Shortcuts actions, such as adding a recipe to your grocery list, run on your device. Siri itself is provided by Apple under Apple’s privacy terms.
Dash isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.
If we change how Dash handles your information, for example when optional sync between devices arrives, we’ll update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
